The House Republican Alliance Tri-chairs are proud to endorse the 2021-2022 House Budget Proposal submitted March 31, 2021 from the Committee on Finance. It is scheduled to be voted on April 7th.
We fully support this measure as a fiscally conservative balanced budget despite New Hampshire having gone through the COVID 19 Pandemic. This budget does not grow the size of government but continues to provide Granite Staters the same high level of commitment and service they have grown to expect.
New Hampshire earned #1 Status as the Most Economically Free State in the Nation last year. This year we continue to live up to that status as our small business owners and residents will see reductions in the Business Profits and Business Enterprise Taxes. Interest & Dividends taxes will begin its 5-year phase out this year. This is a major initiative in the Republican’s Platform; No Income Tax (Not now! Not ever!!!)
Additionally, rewriting of the Business Forward Tax, reduction of Statewide Education Tax, a reduction in Property Taxes and a reduction of the Meals and Rooms tax from 9% to 8.5% were pressed into this budget as well.
It is the hard work of many representatives producing legislation like this that has helped New Hampshire retain fiscal security. It is that fiscal security that allowed New Hampshire to navigate through the Pandemic. We applaud the hard work of the Ways and Means and the Finance Committee members.
